More than 1,000 students and 250 staff members at the Mahanoy Area School District were immediately evacuated, piling into the city streets after the buildings received the threat around lunchtime, WNEP reported.
An update on the district’s Facebook page, Twitter, and website confirmed a bomb threat to be the cause of the evacuation and temporary closure.
The building has since been cleared by Pennsylvania State Police with the utilization of explosive-detecting K9s, the district said.
School was back in session at its regular time on Friday, Sept. 23, the district said.
